A brand new performance space.
Large scale sculptures such as this have popped up all over the city, to beautify the empty spaces left behind.
The Margaret Mahy Family Playground. Opened December 2015, and is the largest playground in the Southern Hemisphere. It’s a lot of fun here (we’ve posted about it before).
The layout of the playground is really open and spacious. As with the rest of the Christchurch rebuild, there are little details all over, with the sole purpose of being pretty.

Looking into New Regent St. A pedestrian only (except for the bloody tram!) street, packed with food and drink spots, and fancy boutiques.

Tiles like this cover New Regent St.
There is still a lot of construction going on.
The Dance’O’Mat. Another Gap Filler project.
Complete with disco ball.

This empty space used to be packed with buildings. I went to school here in 2004.

Plans plans plans.
The Cathedral. The symbol of Christchurch, even for non-religious people like me. It’s sobering to look at, and is a real physical reminder of what has been lost. I get surprisingly emotional if I look at it for too long.
