Supertree Grove – Botanical Gardens – Orchid Garden

We’ve seen this photo before… though the last time had a much less dramatic (and ominous) sky.
Super trees, in all their night time glory!
At 7:45pm and 8:45pm each night, a light show is put on with the tree lighting synced to some music. These photos were taken right before it started.
The tree in the foreground has a restaurant in it… we didn’t go (hawker centres are cheaper and better).
There is a walkway that stretches between some of the trees. We could have chosen to walk it (for $8 SGD), but didn’t. Judging by the lack of people we saw, I think they only allow people on it during the day.
The bontanical gardens were fantastic! This was right near the north west entrance, which is what they call the eco-garden (eco for both ecological, and economic, as this section used to provide important crops for Singapore).

This bird was a tricky blighter to catch. He moved quickly and erratically.
A sad droopy flower. No idea what kind.
You can’t quite tell the scale of this snail from this photo. She was about the size of a chicken drumstick.
Lush, is an excellent word for this…
… and this. See in the bottom left corner a little brown line in the grass?
This is that line. He was pretty big.
The entrance to the Orchid Garden. There were little statues and displays like this all over the place.

Something about this photo doesn’t look real. Almost like Natalie was sitting in front of a greenscreen or a painted landscape. She wasn’t.
Admiring the flowers in a cage.
This funky guy!
The gardens have a special section for hybrid orchids, which people have bred and created. This is the Princess Diana orchid.
This one was dedicated to the Governor-General of New Zealand.
More archways.
An alien or an orchid?

Not sure exactly what this plant was, but it definitely looked very reminiscent of a pineapple.
“These things here?”
Giant leaves, with Natalie for scale. Each leaf was easily the size of a dinner table.
