Nilaveli – Ella

We didn’t really spend much time snapping photos in Nilaveli. A lot of time was spent relaxing, eating, and not much else. It was a glorious holiday from travelling.
Following an epic 12 hour trip, we high tailed it from Trincomalee down to Ella (via Kandy). We could have broken the trip up, but that would have meant staying overnight in Kandy, which we weren’t too fussed about. The next day in Ella, we set out down the train tracks in search of the path towards Ella Rock.
Ella is tea county. We saw many a tea plantation along our way.
At the top, we had views such as this…
… and the same view, with me pointing (the pointing series continues)….
… and this!
Natalie gives persepective to the drop behind her.
There weren’t just epic views to be had at the top, but these forests of tall straight trees.
But also, more views.
When we set out that morning, we’d aligned ourselves with Lika (left), a Dutch girl who was staying in the other room of our guest house. Along the way, we ran into Lisa (center) from Germany, when she asked as whether we knew how to get to the path to Ella Rock. We ended up doing the ascent and subsequent descent with them.
A tall and straight tree.
The next day, we explored the area around Ella some more, including this waterfall.

We were also told to check out the nine arches bridge. It certainly lived up to the name.
We also hiked up Little Adam’s Peak, and walked through more tea plantations. We did a tour of a tea factory, but were forbidden to take any photos of that.
