Dalmatian Coast – Brela

Visiting the cities of Zadar, Sibenik, and Split

Back on the Dalmatian coast. We arrived in the evening, and after a lovely welcome drink (of homemade booze) and chat with our host, we set out for an evening walk.
Just as pretty as expected.
Zadar. Our first ‘big’ city since leaving Zagreb.
This was our first experience with crowds since Plitvice (you can’t tell in this photo). It was a bit of a shock to the system.
Some jet ski races looked like they would be happening soon, so there were people out practicing. It was interesting for a while, but walking along the boardwalk to the sound of jet skis was not exactly as relaxing as it could have been.

The wall of Zadar.

Next stop, Sibenik.

This beautiful church was right on the waterfront.
Some very inefficient self-censoring going on with these naked statues.
Our final of the ‘big’ cities was Split. I’m read about a bit park off to the side, and thought it might be nice to check out.

Epic views.

The more famous part of Split, Diocletian’s Palace.
Tiny narrow streets.

After a few days checking out cities, it was time for another jaunt to a beach town. Brela.

The Brela Stone. Pretty during a sunset.

More glorious beach, more excellent views, more swimming naked.
This northern part of the Makarska Riviera is meant to have some of the prettiest beaches in Croatia. I certainly wouldn’t disagree.
