Sunken forests, caves, and epic landscapes

The view from the path in our resort. Each wooden hut was fairly separated from the others, so it was nice and peaceful.
This big ol’ guy was loving the flowers.

On a walk towards town. A hint of what was to come.
Our first sights during the boat ride across the reservoir.

The tip of our long boat.

I thought this island looked a bit like a dinosaur.

Epic cliffs.

This cave.

For whatever reason, despite only carrying several people, our long boat seemed to be passed by everyone and their grandmother.
The first stop. Lunch in a floating bamboo hut.
These huts were available for an overnight stay. Might have been peaceful? With the boatloads of tourists (like us) stopping by every few hours, I wonder if it might have gotten annoying.
Setting off on the hike portion of the day. A quick jaunt through some jungle.

At one point our guide spotted a giant leaf, so stopped to make a hat for this little girl from The Netherlands.

People have been here before…

Our guide spotted this guy chilling in his web, and grabbed him down so we could take a closer look. He was completely harmless, but had these huge antlers to dissuade anyone from bothering him (obviously it only works some of the time).

Natalie, before heading into the dark of the cave hike. I didn’t take any photos during this, as it was… dark….
Heading back. The clouds had broken, and the sun was well and truly out.
Some of the remnants of the forest which was flooded during the creation of the reservoir.
