Camping in Namibia is full of excitement and challenges. This is easily the cheapest way to find accommodation in Namibia (without staying at a lodge!). Campsites in Namibia can be a great place to find a pool, meet new friends, and watch the stars. Here’s what we did to get the most out of our trip.
We spent a month self driving in Namibia in March of 2018. We drove across the border with South Africa in the south, making our way to the coast at Lüderitz, inland through the desert and then back to the coast at Swakopmund. We left Namibia via Etosha, and then the Caprivi region before heading south into Botswana. Self driving in Namibia is not for the faint of heart, but we’ve got a few tips on how to do it as safely and comfortably as possible!
We spent about three weeks driving in South Africa in February and April (we spent most of March in Namibia and Botswana) of 2018. Starting our Southern Africa road trip in Johannesburg, we drove beside the northern border with Lesotho to Bloemfontein, down south to the coast, along the garden route to Cape Town, north into Namibia, and then finally south from Botswana to Pretoria.
