The rose garden in the Christchurch Botanical Gardens. This day was a stunner.
One of the cafes in town, Bunsen, is science themed and really nice. Ernest Rutherford’s den is right across the hall (hence the science theme). They also serve all their coffee with spoons like this. It pleased me to receive the Milford Sound spoon.
Further proof of the stunning weather that day. Dad just finished adding a bunch of equipment to the pool, so that it’s cleaner and warmer than ever! It’s now vaguely salty as well (so that it can generate its own chlorine!)
Took a jaunt over to Lyttelton a few days later. I didn’t take any photos in the township, but while having a coffee, Natalie and I sussed out a spot where we could walk up to get a better view of the surrounding area.
A branch, with Lyttelton harbour in the background.
Once at the top of the saddle, we got views of both Lyttelton and Christchurch. This is Christchurch in the background.
More Christchurch. You can see New Brighton beach off on the right hand side.
A branch, and gloriously blue skys.
Looking back into Lyttelton.
Up at the top, there was a little rest stop and cafe, which also functioned as the terminal for the gondola. This is one of the methods of getting here without as much walking, from the Christchurch side. We didn’t check the price, but agreed that having climbed our way up there made the views that much more rewarding.

Hi, we’re Natalie and Jackson: a trans-continental couple who met in New York City in 2013 and haven’t been apart since. We got married in June 2015 and have been traveling around the world together.
