Sinharaja

Sinharaja Forest. One of Sri Lanka’s biodiversity hotspots…
… filled with many colourful fungi such as this…
… and this.
Giant daddy long legs spiders too.
We saw a multitude of grasshopper geckos.
A spiders web that formed a dome.
Green everywhere.
This spiral vine. Our guide didn’t explain how or why it grows like this. Maybe something to do with the position of the sun during certain seasons?
This little blue bird was just chilling. Probably sitting on some eggs. We walked back this way a few hours later and it was still there.
Did I mention, spiders? See that little red dot in the top left corner? That’s the male. He’s probably going to get eaten by the female soon.
Soaking up some rays.
These snails are known as Doctor snails. Apparently if you agitate the shell, it will secrete some goo which has medicinal uses.
This guy doesn’t normally have his neck thing out. He was getting quite annoyed with us, obviously.
A very picky eater was here.
Natalie resetting up next to a small waterfall. Note the leech socks. They were very useful.
I tried climbing a vine…
Triumph!
A very vermillion venemous viper.
Towards the end of the day, we were taken to another waterfall which also had a nice swimming hole (no leeches!). We both jumped in, and it felt amazing. The jungle was very hot and humid, so we were pretty gross at this point.
Feeling much better!
On the way out, we spotted another spider, with a wild web and a big cross.
